Outreach

Bringing [Dis]Ability to the Bar aims to dismantle the prejudices and barriers that disabled aspiring barristers face in accessing the profession by raising awareness on the range of disabilities, and the challenges that a disabled aspiring barrister will face in accessing the profession. In sharing our vision, the Outreach team will share the findings of the BDABar research resulting from our many projects (more about BDABar research can be found here).

We strongly affirm that the challenges a disabled aspiring barrister unfortunately faces start from the very early stage of their legal education; sometimes even before that. Consequently, the BDABar Outreach Team aims to establish strong relationships, share our research conclusions and collaborate with colleges, sixth forms, universities, GDL and Bar Course providers, and Inns of Court to raise awareness, educate and destigmatise disabilities. Together, We aim to make a more accessible and inclusive profession!

The Outreach team works closely with the Chambers, Mini-Pupillage & Mentorship team as well as with the Events team to arrange seminars, talks, and networking events. If you are interested in supporting us and getting involved, please email outreach@bdabar.org.
